Whataburger and the Texans Team Up Once Again

The biggest wins this season aren’t just on the field. It’s Whataburger and the Houston Texans going head-to-head with child hunger for the tenth year running, all to benefit the Houston Food Bank and the children and families who need it most.

From Monday, Sept. 22, to Sunday, Oct. 12, fans can join the team by donating $1 at any of the 156 Houston-area Whataburger restaurants. Every dollar helps provide three meals to Houstonians facing food insecurity — and as a thank you, Guests will score a free Whataburger with the purchase of a medium fry and 32-ounce drink on their next visit. All proceeds will fuel the Food Bank’s child hunger programs — Backpack Buddy, Kids Cafe, and School Market.

“Each dollar raised helps put three meals on the table for Houstonians in need,” said Brian Greene, president and CEO of Houston Food Bank. “Partnerships with Whataburger and the Houston Texans are essential to provide food for better lives and bring us one step closer to ensuring every child has dependable access to nutritious food.”

The campaign officially kicks off with a community celebration at Whataburger’s TX 8 & Lake Houston restaurant (13933 East Sam Houston Pkwy N, Houston, TX 77044) on Sept. 23 from 12 – 1 p.m. Texans Legend Travis Johnson, Houston Texans Cheerleaders, and TORO will be on hand serving Guests, posing for photos, and rallying fans in the fundraiser tackling hunger.

This campaign is part of Whataburger’s Feeding Student Success initiative, which supports hunger relief, education, and community connection. Alongside this annual fundraiser, the initiative also funds Whataburger Resource Rooms on college campuses, the Whataburger Feeding Student Success Scholarship, and hunger awareness programs at local schools.

Since its launch in 2015, the campaign has raised more than $1 million for the Houston Food Bank. The total contributions from the 2025 season will be announced in October.

“It’s always an honor to team up with Whataburger to tackle hunger in our community,” said Houston Texans Senior Vice President of Partnerships and Luxe, Brian George. “Together, we’re proud to support the Houston Food Bank and make a real impact for families across Houston — especially the youngest Texans fans who deserve reliable access to nutritious meals.”
